Missing report of a British man has been filed, who allegedly drowned in a boating incident on a Portuguese dam. The tourist spot, once the largest artificial lake in the country, is also a popular destination for fishing enthusiasts as well as fans of water sports.
The victim has been described as a 29-year-old Brit. A team of fire service divers is on a look-out after he vanished at Santa Clara Dam. It is just over an hour’s drive north of the Algarve resort of Portimao.
The bystanders reported that there were three members on the sinking boat, however, two were lucky enough to reach dry land, safely. After the boat overturned, the missing man never came to sight.
Mario Batista, the local fire chief, informed that the victim was sailing on a banana boat, along with three other Brits, when they were thrown into the water. Their boat probably drew by a vessel, which was a speedboat carrying another six Brits.
The name of the missing Brit, who was on a holiday, has not been confirmed by the authorities. Even the local police is also actively involved in the search operation.
