Tensions Escalate as Iran Issues a Warning Against the United States

Tensions between the United States and Iran have been there since Donald Trump pulled his nation out of the nuclear deal with Iran this year. However, the clashes just seem to have escalated with time.

Last week on Saturday, Tehran launch missile strikes on an Iranian Kurdish rebel base in northern Iraq, the attack which has been addressed as a warning to hostile powers by the Chief of Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari.

Under the strike, Iranian Guards had fired seven missiles at the headquarters of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI), which is an armed opposition group that fights for greater autonomy for Iran’s Kurdish community. As per the reports, at least 11 people were killed, while dozens were wounded.

According to the Iranian state television, Jafari said, ““IRGC’s recent revenge against the terrorists conveys a highly meaningful message to the enemies, particularly those superpowers who think they can impose their evil plots on us and bully us.”

Giving a warning, he added, “All those who have forces, bases and equipment within a 2,000 km (1,200 mile) radius should know that our missiles are highly precise.”

Jafri’s statement clearly seemed to have directed towards the United States, which had reimposed sanctions on that country in August, this year. Moreover, Iran, in the past as well, has repeatedly threatened to destroy the US military bases across the Middle East.

Iran has also menaced that in case the United States and its regional allies attack the country, it would target Israel within minutes, since Israel is one of the two original major non-NATO allies of the US in the Middle East.

Moreover, on Friday, a rocket strike by the proxies of Iran hit near American diplomat facilities in Baghdad and Basra, in Iraq. The US also didn’t stay behind, and issued a warning against Iran, saying that it will respond “swiftly and decisively” to any attacks resulting in injury to Americans or damage to American facilities.

When will Iran cease the violence against the United States? Will there be peace between the two countries, or the World War 3 fears growing after the warning come true?
